SBA’s Ascent is an immersive learning platform that provides female entrepreneurs with the training, coaching, mentorship and support they need to take their business to new heights.
Eleven Peppers Studios (EPS) had the honor of creating the brand and building the learning platform from the ground up! We collaborated with stakeholders to name the learning platform Ascent. This name implies upward movement, from a lower to a higher state, degree, grade, or status; advancement.
Playing off of the name, we designed a logo that visually references a mountain and increasing line graph. Mountains are metaphors for obstacles and challenges. While the increasing line graph implies sales and business growth.
To support the learning platform and micro-learning asset development, EPS illustrated an extensive character library. We designed a variety of features and styles to reflect the diverse women audience. Creating a custom library enhanced the workflow of our designers, so they could produce over 100 micro-learning assets in a short period of time!
Our process in building the Ascent platform consisted of four distinct phases: Discovery, Define, Design and Validate. Each phase of the project incorporates the feedback from users, the business goals of stakeholders and making sound design decisions involving the small-business owner.
The UI gives the user a sense that they are on Journeys, going through Excursions based on a topic and following Paths of exercises that will help them practice necessary skills. Paths are comprised of micro-learning assets, like: infographics, worksheets, videos, self-assessments, success stories and more!
Ascent is designed for all business owners– even those who may be visually impaired as we’ve put features in place for 508 compliance and designed with accessibility in mind.
